A hearing on Redwood Gospel Mission's request to relocate and expand its homeless services to an industrial area in the city's southwest was postponed Thursday after neighbors asked for more time to review the proposal.

The mission, which has been a fixture of the Railroad Square neighborhood for decades, is proposing to build over seven years a new campus on Roberts Avenue off Sebastopol Road.

The new facility would have up 258 beds in multiple buildings covering two parcels. Until 2011, the industrial property was the home of a Shamrocks Materials batch plant.

The Planning Commission was scheduled to consider the proposal, which has been in the works since 2014, at Thursday's meeting.

But neighbors questioned whether the public notice given for the project was sufficient, and requested more time to review the proposal. The meeting was continued to an unspecified date in the future.
