Fire damages house in Santa Rosa's Rincon Valley neighborhood

Santa Rosa firefighters Wednesday extinguished a house fire that apparently began outside a Rincon Valley home and made its way into the attic.

The fire was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Creek Meadow Drive, a street of mostly two-story homes off Brush Creek Road, north of Montecito Boulevard.

Four engines and a ladder truck responded to the blaze, according to a Fire Department press release. When fire crews arrived, smoke was coming from the home’s attic vents and chimney area.

Firefighters entered the house and found flames in a wall and the attic. Some deployed hoses to fight the fire inside while others climbed onto the roof and cut ventilation holes.

The blaze was contained to an area near its origin. Damage was estimated at $50,000.

The cause remains under investigation.
