VALLEJO - Police say a San Francisco Bay Area man has been arrested in connection with a house fire that killed his 5-year-old son and left the boy's mother in critical condition.

Vallejo Police Capt. John Whitney said 53-year-old Darrylone Shuemake Sr. was taken into custody on Wednesday after he turned himself in to another San Francisco Bay Area police department.

Vallejo authorities had been searching for Shuemake since determining that Sunday's fatal fire was set intentionally.

Whitney says Shuemake was jailed on charges of murder, attempted-murder and arson after speaking with detectives. Police have not disclosed if they have established a motive for the alleged crimes.

Another son, Darrylone Shuemake Jr., told television station KCRA (http://bit.ly/1TAYjCo) that his father was violent and that he spent his childhood living in fear of him.
