The California Highway Patrol is investigating an accident involving students from Technology High School in which a student working on a school-related film project ran over a second.

Authorities said the incident occurred Tuesday a few blocks south of Sonoma State University where the science and magnet school is located. They believe several students were working on the project when one in a Toyota Sienna minivan ran over another student. The accident was reported just after 4 p.m. on Sturtevant Drive, CHP Officer Kerri Post said.

The 15-year-old boy who was hit was taken by ambulance to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, where he remained Wednesday, Post said, being treated for a fractured pelvis and abrasions to his arms, face and head.

When firefighters arrived at the scene, the teen was conscious and alert, Rancho Adobe Fire Battalion Chief Herb Wandel said. He had been freed from under the minivan and other students were caring for him, Wandel said.

The minivan belonged to one of the students' parents, Post said. It’s unclear whether the teen behind the wheel had a permit to drive.

No one else was injured in the accident, which remains under investigation.

No other details were available.
