A 27-year-old Petaluma woman was killed early Saturday near Penngrove after being ejected from her car and then struck by a friend’s vehicle following behind her.

The driver of the second vehicle, Kyle Turek, 28, of Petaluma, was arrested and booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of manslaughter, felony DUI and driving on a suspended license.

The woman’s name was withheld Saturday, pending notification of relatives.

The two crashes occurred about 12:20 a.m. on Davis Lane, south of East Railroad Avenue. The woman was driving north at a high rate of speed on Davis, a two-lane country road, when she lost control of her 2007 Toyota Rav 4 and the vehicle overturned, according to the California Highway Patrol. She was not wearing a seatbelt, the CHP reported.

The woman was ejected from her car and came to rest in the road’s northbound lane. Turek was driving his 2011 Honda Fit behind the Toyota. His vehicle struck the woman.

“The preliminary investigation indicates Turek and the deceased were drinking together at different bars and restaurants in Petaluma and were traveling to the deceased’s residence,” the CHP reported.

Turek was first taken to the CHP office in Rohnert Park for an interview with officers and a member of the Sonoma County District Attorney’s Office. He later was booked into the jail with bail set at $100,000.
