SAN FRANCISCO - A brief heat wave is expected in the San Francisco Bay Area by week's end.

The East Bay Times reports (http://bit.ly/25yk151) Tuesday that the National Weather Service says temperatures in some summer hot zones, including Morgan Hill, Walnut Creek and Livermore might get close to triple-digits on Friday and Saturday before cooling off Sunday.

National Weather Service forecaster Bob Benjamin predicts Oakland won't get quite as warm, with highs of about 80 degrees, before dropping down to 70 on Sunday.

Benjamin says the National Weather Service will consider this week whether to issue a heat advisory. One reason it might not is that the nights will be quite cool, likely in the upper 50s, the newspaper reported.

Spots along the coast are expected to stay in the low 70s.
