Lake County sheriff’s officials Monday confirmed an apparent drowning in Clear Lake late last week, the second water-related death in the county in a six-day period.

Lake County Sheriff’s Lt. Steve Brooks said the victim’s name is being withheld until all of his family can be notified.

Brooks said the man disappeared while swimming in the lake Thursday. His body was recovered by the North Shore Fire Protection District’s dive team about two hours later, according to fire and sheriff’s officials.

No other information was available Monday.

The death follows that of a 74-year-old man who died when the aging speed boat in which he was a passenger broke apart and sank in Clear Lake. Autopsy results for James Michael Leale, of San Jose and Clearlake Park, are pending, Brooks said.
