The behavior of a shifty passenger during a pre-dawn traffic stop led officers to search the man and find a loaded gun, Santa Rosa police said.

Derrick Lamm, 30, of Santa Rosa, was acting suspicious in the way he was moving around in the passenger seat of a 1999 Pontiac Bonneville pulled over Wednesday at 3:26 a.m. on Cleveland Avenue and Guerneville Road, Sgt. Kyle Philip said.

The officer asked Lamm to exit the car and began a pat-down search, which revealed a .25-caliber semi-automatic Titan pistol in the front pocket of his jeans, Philip said. Lamm was prohibited from having a gun because of prior felony convictions.

He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of illegal weapon possession, carrying a concealed firearm and possessing a loaded gun in public.

The female driver - who wasn’t identified - was cited for various driving violations, including driving without a license and having an expired registration, Philip said.
