Marin County man suspected of trying to set fire under Lake Sonoma bridge

Authorities arrested a 61-year-old Marin County man Friday who they suspect was trying to start a wildfire under the Lake Sonoma bridge.

Scott E. Wilmore was arrested on supspicion of arson and was booked into Sonoma County Jail on $40,000 bail, authorities said. He was arrested at the scene without incident, said Joe Baldwin, battalion chief for Cal Fire.

The small fire was reported at 10:22 a.m. Friday on the westside of the bridge and was quickly put out by Cal Fire, the Geyserville Fire Department, the Cloverdale Fire Protection District and Healdsburg Fire Department.

Authorities did not release details of why Wilmore was in the area at the time, saying such information remained under investigation.
