Clearlake police officers arrested two men this week after serving a search warrant and seizing almost 1,500 marijuana plants.

Jose Montes-Saavedra, 32, and Juan Saavedra, 47, were arrested on suspicion of cultivation of marijuana, possession of marijuana for sale and conspiracy to commit a crime, authorities said.

The property, located on the city’s north side, contained several large “half dome/hoop style” structures that were used to grow marijuana, officers said.

Officers recovered 1,493 marijuana plants and located several hundred rounds of ammunition. They said they found other evidence to show the residence was used as a large scale marijuana cultivation operation.
