A Mendocino man who was thrown out of Dick’s Place Bar was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assaulting an employee with a ceramic bottle and breaking a bar window.

James Herriot, 31, was asked to leave the bar sometime before 1 a.m. Wednesday for disruptive behavior, officials said. Instead of leaving, Herriot remained outside the Main Street bar.

When a bar employee asked Herriot to leave the area, Herriot allegedly became combative and broke a bar window with a ceramic bottle, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said. He then allegedly struck the bar employee with the bottle, though he caused no serious injury, officials said.

Sheriff’s deputies found Herriot a short distance from the bar. He was arrested on suspicion of violating his probation, assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
