Bay Area gold seeker's disappearance in Colorado deemed suspicious

GOLDEN, Colo. - Investigators are looking for a San Francisco Bay Area man who has not been seen for more than two weeks, and whose RV had been claimed by a man who was involved in a shootout with police near Denver.

Officers trying to arrest David Little on a child sex assault warrant were fired on in Edgewater, Colorado, on June 21, according to Pam Russell, a spokeswoman for the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office. They returned fire, wounding Little.

Little, who is now jailed, asked officers to retrieve his dog from his RV. Officers then discovered the RV, parked in Golden, belonged to 71-year-old John Cizek, of Newark.

Cizek had told friends he was going to Colorado to pan for gold in the mountains. He was last seen June 12 near Alamosa, Colorado. Little is believed to have been in the southern Colorado town that day.

Russell said Cizek's disappearance is suspicious.

Little has been charged with attempted murder for firing at officers along with the sex assault charge, she said. He has until July 6 to hire an attorney.
