A Windsor couple struck in a crosswalk last week while walking home from the Town Green remained hospitalized Tuesday with serious injuries.

Helen Pena, 68, and her husband, Fidel Pena, 69, were hit by a Prius on Thursday at the corner of Windsor River Road and Market Street around 10 p.m., Sonoma County Sheriff’s Sgt. Cecile Focha said.

Helen Pena was in critical condition in the intensive care unit. Her husband’s condition was fair, according to a Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital spokeswoman.

A family member had set up a GoFundMe page for any expenses they might face in their recovery.

The couple had attended a musical concert at the Town Green and was walking home. They were struck about a block away from the event site, according to the fundraising page and an account from law enforcement.

Focha said they were about three-quarters of the way through the crosswalk when struck by a vehicle driven by Windsor resident Susan Fountain, 66.

The case remains under investigation, Focha said.

Investigators are still looking for witnesses or anyone with information about the crash. The sheriff’s tip line is 707-565-2185.
