Police lifted a shelter-in-place order for Calistoga residents Tuesday evening after law enforcement teams apprehended an outstanding suspect in an earlier armed robbery in Windsor.

Two suspects — masked and armed with an assault rifle — shot an armored car guard outside of a bank in Windsor early Tuesday afternoon during a brazen daylight robbery that sparked an intense manhunt.

The two suspects reportedly fled to Calistoga.

Calistoga police later pulled over a Chevy SUV that was reportedly connected to the heist. A man who got out of the vehicle fired upon a Calistoga police officer, who responded by ramming the man with his patrol car, according to Napa County Sheriff's Cpt. Captain Keith Behlmer. The suspect was taken to a hospital with undisclosed injuries.

The second suspect was reportedly taken into custody three hours later after authorities detained him in a Calistoga creekbed.

Initial dispatch reports said a Loomis armored car guard was rushed to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with three gunshot wounds. His condition was not immediately available.
