A Santa Rosa man was stabbed in the hand Monday while breaking up a fight between a man and a woman in Doyle Park.|

A Santa Rosa man was stabbed in the hand Monday while breaking up a fight between a man and a woman in Doyle Park.

The 36-year-old stabbing victim was with his female friend in the park Monday afternoon when he left to get a drink of water, a news release from the Santa Rosa Police Department said.

When he returned, his female friend was fighting with another man, who started to strangle her and had a knife, police said.

When the 36-year-old man tried to break the fight up, he was stabbed in his left middle finger.

He told police the other man was white, about 5-feet, 4-inches tall, weighing less than 200 pounds, and bald with green eyes.
