REDWOOD CITY - A good Samaritan used his carjack to lift a vehicle off a pedestrian who became pinned underneath a full-sized SUV after a crash south of San Francisco over the weekend.

KNTV reports (http://bit.ly/2aFtQVm) Idris Mustafa, who just moved to the San Francisco Bay Area about a week ago from Washington, D.C., says it was just his "instinct" to run and help the man.

The name and age of the victim was not released.

Authorities say he was suffering from significant trauma and was taken to a nearby hospital. His injuries were not considered life-threatening, but his condition was not available Monday.

The victim was crossing the street at Bridge Parkway and Redwood Shores Parkway in Redwood City about 9:50 p.m. Saturday when the collision occurred.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene.
