Lake County man sentenced to 28 years in child molest cases

A Lake County man has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for molesting two children, according to the Lake County District Attorney's Office.

David Edward Carr, 50, was sentenced Monday in Lake County Superior Court. He had pleaded guilty July 8 to multiple counts of child molestation with two victims, according to the District Attorney's Office. The charges included lewd acts on a minor, continuous sexual abuse of a child, possession of child pornography and manufacturing child pornography.

One of the victims was 6 years old when Carr began molesting her in 2006, authorities said. The molests continued until some time in 2010, authorities said.

Police began an investigation after the girl reported the molests to her mother in January 2013.

During the investigation, Lake County Sheriff's officials said they seized Carr's computer and camera, where they found photographs of Carr touching another girl inappropriately as she slept.

Because all of the counts against Carr are considered violent, Carr will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence.

Upon release, he will be required to register as a sex offender, according to the District Attorney's Office.
