Santa Rosa police arrested a man known as a “high-risk” sex offender Thursday night after he was suspected of entering the grounds of the Sonoma County Fair, which police said amounted to a parole violation.

The man, identified Andrew Lloyd Olsen, 32, was arrested at 10:30 p.m. Thursday about three miles from the fairgrounds, near the intersection of Summerfield Road and Montgomery Drive.

The arrest came after a California State Parole agent notified Santa Rosa police that Olsen’s tracking monitor indicated he was possibly at fairgrounds.

Parole officials tracked Olsen’s monitor, which showed him traveling east bound, on foot, toward Howarth Park, then notified police of his location.

Olsen was prohibited from attending the fair according to conditions of his parole, police said.

Police, in a written statement, said Olsen “had the condition to stay away from the fair because of the nature of his previous offenses.” In a state database for sex offenders, those offenses were reported as lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14.

Olsen was booked in Sonoma County Jail and is being held without bail.
