Petaluma police Monday asked the public’s help identifying two men suspected of robbing an ATM customer.

One surveillance photograph shows the eyes and nose of one of the suspected robbers with his face partially obscured by a black hat and dark clothing around his mouth and neck.

Sgt. Ed Crosby said the customer was robbed about 5:30 a.m. Aug. 11 at the Wells Fargo ATM in the Washington Square Shopping Center on South McDowell Boulevard.

The customer told police two men came up behind him, held a gun to the right side of his head and demanded money, Crosby said. The male customer handed over about $100. The suspects ran.

Bank staff initially told police the surveillance video showed nothing unusual, but later said they found images that appear to corroborate the victim’s account of what occurred. One image appears to show an arm holding something to the head of the customer.

Anyone with information about the case can call Petaluma police at 778-4372 or Detective Nick McGowan at 778-4456.
