Teen caught in girl's bed by Northern California foster dad convicted in his shooting death

SACRAMENTO - A young man has been convicted of shooting to death a former Marine and police officer after being caught in bed with the man's foster daughter.

The Sacramento Bee reports (http://bit.ly/2bndmlw) that on Monday a Sacramento jury found Jacob Wilcoxen guilty of first-degree murder in connection to the 2014 death of 54-year-old Bill Stidman.

Prosecutors say Stidman found Wilcoxen, who was 16 when he was arrested and tried as an adult, in bed with a 14-year-old girl and confronted him. Wilcoxen then pulled out a revolver and shot Stidman four times.

Stidman survived his injuries long enough to provide a responding a Sacramento County sheriff's deputy with basic information about the shooting.

Sentencing is scheduled for Oct. 6.
