Firefighters extinguished an attic fire Wednesday afternoon in a manufactured home in northwest Santa Rosa.

The fire, first reported about 3:45 p.m., began along the exterior of a home on Gerhard Drive off Piner Road east of Willowside Road. The flames quickly extended to the attic, said Michael Elson, acting battalion chief for the Central Fire , which administers the Windsor and Rincon Valley fire departments.

Firefighters from Rincon Valley, Santa Rosa, Cal Fire, Gold Ridge and Graton responded and were able to successfully place salvage coverings over most of the interior furnishings.

Cause of the fire remains under investigation. Damage exceeded $100,000.
