A Willits man has been arrested on suspicion of murder for the death of a man he punched outside a Laytonville bar Sunday night, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

Charles Reynolds, 32, is suspected of killing Kenneth Fisher, 29, of Laytonville, with a single blow, according to the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office.

Witnesses told deputies Reynolds punched Fisher in the parking lot of Boomer’s Bar, causing him to fall to the ground. Efforts were made to resuscitate the victim, who was unresponsive. He was transported by ambulance to Howard Memorial Hospital in Willits, where he was later pronounced dead, sheriff’s officials said.

The suspect was located by the CHP at a nearby business and arrested, sheriff’s officials said.

There did not appear to be an altercation between the two men prior to the assault, officials said.

Reynolds is being held without bail in the Mendocino County jail.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Detectives Unit at 707-234-2100.
