A 20-acre wildfire closed Highway 29 in Lake County near Upper Lake for nearly two hours Tuesday night, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The closure occurred from roughly 7 to 9 p.m. on the roadway between Highway 20 and Mockingbird Lane.

Cal Fire estimated the blaze at about 20 acres.

Earlier, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office sent out an alert at 5:39 p.m. stating that due to the wildfire residents were ordered to evacuate in the area of Old Robinson Rancheria. However, at 6:47 p.m. the agency sent out an advisory lifting the evacuation order and stating that firefighters “have been able to contain and stop forward progress of the wildfire in Upper Lake.”

“Fire personnel are expected to remain on scene for the next couple of hours, mopping up in areas where needed,” the advisory stated. “The public is asked to use caution and watch for emergency vehicles in the area.”
