ORINDA - Police in the San Francisco Bay Area are looking for the people they say shot a woman twice and pistol-whipped her husband during an armed robbery.

KNTV-TV reports (http://bit.ly/2dder0O) that Police Chief Mark Nagel says the couple's son called for help at about 10 p.m. Monday. He said his mother was shot in the left arm and lower hip, and that both his parents are in their 70s.

The woman was taken to the hospital and police say she is in stable condition.

Nagel says the couple had been grocery shopping and were approached on their way home by people wearing Halloween masks who took their wallet and purse.

Nagel did not say how many people were involved in the robbery.
