SAN FRANCISCO - Officials say a big rig fire shut down one side of the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge Tuesday morning.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/2dhdFRY) that California Highway Patrol Officer Nathan Campbell says the fire broke out at 8 a.m. on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge.

It was extinguished within about 30 minutes.

The fire caused a shutdown of all eastbound traffic on the lower deck of the bridge.

The blaze was sparked when the tractor-trailer hit the bridge's guardrail, causing it to catch fire, the newspaper reported.

No injuries were reported.

The rig was completely destroyed.
