Napa County supervisors on Tuesday tentatively named a new district attorney to replace Gary Lieberstein, who is retiring after 18 years in the office.

Allison Haley, a chief deputy under Lieberstein, will take over when he leaves Dec. 30. She will become Napa County’s first female district attorney.

Final approval of the appointment is expected at an upcoming November board meeting.

Haley, 43, has been a Napa County prosecutor since 2005. She was promoted to chief deputy in 2013.

Lieberstein, 61, announced last week his plans to retire with two years left on his fifth term. He was first elected in 1998.
