Windsor Town Council chambers to close for a month for remodel

Windsor’s Town Council chambers will be closed for a month to install new broadcasting and recording equipment used to televise public meetings.

The $268,000 upgrade involves building a new audio-visual room in the south end of the chambers, replacing speakers and cameras, broadcasting equipment, cabling, and putting in a new projector and screen set up with digital monitors.

The existing system, which was last upgraded in 2003, has become problematic, requiring ongoing repair and maintenance, according to Olivia Lemen, a city management analyst.

The closure from Nov. 3 to Dec. 5 will force public meetings to be held at other locations. The Town Council will meet Nov. 16 and Nov. 28 at the Windsor Senior Center, 9231 Foxwood Dr.

The Planning Commission will also meet at the Senior Center on Nov. 8.

The Windsor School Board will meet Nov. 15 at Windsor Middle School, 9500 Brooks Road South. The Public Art Advisory Commission’s Nov. 14 meeting and the Park and Recreation Commission’s Nov. 15 meeting are being relocated to the Wild Oak room at Town Hall, 9291 Old Redwood Highway, Building 400.
