A motorcyclist died after being struck by a minivan at the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Dutton Avenue in Santa Rosa Tuesday night.

Santa Rosa police say the crash happened just before 6 p.m., and when they arrived on scene, the motorcycle rider was found lying in the southeast corner of the intersection where the rider was pronounced dead at the scene. Police did not release the rider’s name, gender or type of motorcycle, but a witness who gave his first name as Allan said the motorcyclist was a man.

The motorcycle was traveling east on Sebastopol Road when the driver of the minivan, Teri Hoyle, 45, of Santa Rosa turned left onto southbound Dutton Avenue directly in front of the motorcyclist, police said in a news release.

Police say that’s when the van and the motorcycle collided, with the motorcyclist being thrown from his bike and landing in the road. The motorcycle crashed into a nearby light pole and landed near the rider.
