CONCORD - Accusations of an on-campus sex assault have pointed a negative light on a San Francisco Bay Area Catholic high school with a nationally recognized football program.

The East Bay Times reports (http://bit.ly/2h2QOf9) a 15-year-old boy who plays for the freshman team at De La Salle High School in Concord is accused of assaulting a 15-year-old girl after a November playoff game. The newspaper reports prosecutors on Thursday declined to file charges against the boy and asked for further investigation. He was released from juvenile detention.

The Associated Press is not naming the boy or girl because they are minors and because the girl says she is the victim of a sex crime.

The boy's father says the incident was consensual.

But the girl told KPIX5 the encounter was unwelcome.

De La Salle's dean declined comment to the AP on Friday.
