One injured in Highway 101 crash in Rohnert Park

A commute-hour crash snarled afternoon traffic and sent one driver to the hospital Wednesday.|

Northbound traffic on Highway 101 was jammed during the Wednesday afternoon commute in the wake of a two-car collision that sent one woman to the hospital, officials said.

The crash occurred about 5:30 p.m. on northbound Highway 101 south of the Golf Course Drive exit, CHP Officer Jon Sloat said.

A Ford Explorer SUV wound up on its side in the middle of the freeway’s northbound lanes following a collision with a Mitsubishi sedan, he said.

The SUV’s driver was taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries, Sloat said. The CHP did not have the woman’s full name.

Rancho Adobe Fire District Capt. Jimmy Bernal said the driver was helped from her car by another person.

“Traffic was a mess,” Bernal said.

Sloat said the collision was reported by six callers within minutes.
