Thousands sign petition for Melania Trump to move to the White House or pay for NYC security

More than 120,000 people (and counting) have signed an online petition calling for first lady Melania Trump to move to the White House or pay for her own security at Trump Tower in Manhattan.

According to the Change.org page, "The U.S. taxpayer is paying an exorbitant amount of money to protect the first lady in Trump Tower. The expense yields no positive results for the nation and should be cut from being funded."

The first lady and her son, Barron, are reportedly moving to Washington, D.C. after Barron finishes the school year, but no date has been given.

According to a New York Times story, it costs between $127,000 and $146,000 a day to protect Mrs. Trump and her son.

The petition's goal is 150,000 signatures. If reached, it will be delivered to Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren.
