A 13-year-old girl jumped out of a moving truck in Bodega Bay on Saturday morning to escape from a man she said kidnapped her in Napa, raped her and etched his name into her skin with a knife during the harrowing 27-hour ordeal, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies arrested Timothy Lee Marble, 50, of Napa, after he inexplicably called 911 to report “his 13-year-old companion jumped out of his vehicle and ran off,” Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

The girl was hospitalized and reunited with her mother, Crum said.

Deputies arrested Marble on suspicion of kidnapping, multiple counts of sexually abusing a minor under the age of 14 and child abuse. He was held without bail at the Sonoma County Jail and is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday on eight felony crimes.

Marble is suspected of abducting the girl at a Shell gas station in Napa about 3 a.m. Friday. She told deputies she had gotten into an argument with her mother several hours earlier Thursday night and ran away from home.

Marble engaged the girl in conversation at the gas station and convinced her to get into his red Chevrolet truck, then drove her to an unknown spot “in the country” and they smoked marijuana, according to sheriff’s investigators.

The girl told deputies she rejected his sexual advances before he assaulted her, tying her to a tree and raping her, investigators said.

At one point, he injected her with methamphetamine and used a razor blade and knife to make superficial cuts to her leg, scratching his name into her skin, Crum said. During their travels, Marble sexually assaulted her twice more in the truck, Crum said.

They ended up in Bodega Bay early Saturday, police said, and fearing for her life, the victim jumped out of the truck and hid in bushes.

She told deputies Marble stopped the truck and called out to her.

“When she didn’t answer, he told her he was going to kill her,” sheriff’s officials said.

As she continued to hide, Marble dialed 911. Deputies responded to the 5:40 a.m. call and were talking with Marble at the scene when the girl, covered in skin abrasions, stumbled out of the bushes and told them he had raped her, Crum said.

Investigators are still trying to piece together where Marble took the girl during the 27-hour ordeal, Crum said. Sheriff’s officials released a jail booking photograph of Marble and asked people to come forward with information about him.

Marble has a long criminal history that includes domestic violence crimes and a felony conviction for drugs, according to Crum.

Marble has no prior sexual assault offenses and previously lived in Southern California and the Sacramento area.

A man named Timothy Lee Marble was convicted of eight felony crimes about six years ago after selling drugs to an undercover agent with the Napa Special Investigations Bureau, according to the Napa Valley Register. Marble pleaded guilty to the drug charges.
