Summer sewing classes for boys, girls

Bolt Fabric & Home at 219 N. Cloverdale Blvd. is offering four summer sewing classes in June and July for boys and girls, ages 10 and up.

June 13 and July 18 – Machine Basics and Envelope Pillow Fun with Coloring Pens

June 14 and July 19 – Candy Bag Pouch

June 15 and July 20 – Summer Shorts

June 16 and July 21 – Teddy Bear Workshop

Participants will learn how to use a sewing machine as well as gain an understanding of basic stitching, measuring and cutting, leaving each class with a fun item they made themselves.

Classes will be taught by Debbie Ward from 1-4 p.m. each day. Cost is $80 for all four classes in the same month. Pre-registration is required. Fabrics sold separately. Call 707-894-2658 for more information.

‘Songs of the Americas’ concert in Spanish, English

Tickets are now on sale for “Songs of the Americas,” a concert to be presented in Spanish and English at 7:30 p.m. on June 3 at the Cloverdale Performing Arts Center, 209 N. Cloverdale Blvd.

Performers will be Stephanie Webster, Mexican-American guitarist, singer and marimba master Jack Van Geem, former principal percussionist with the San Francisco Symphony.

Pieces will include music by the Mexican artists Rodrigo y Gabriela and Chilean composers Violeta Parra and Victor Jara, as well as tango and other South American music.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online at cloverdaleperformingarts.com or in person at the Mail Center, 207 N. Cloverdale Blvd.

Builders Club busy this year

It has been another successful year for Washington School Builders Club

The Washington School Builders Club, under the auspices of the Cloverdale Kiwanis Club, raised over $1,300 for charity this year, in addition to making scarves for Meals on Wheels seniors and blankets for foster care kids.

Made up of of seventh- and eighth-graders, the Washington School Builders Club is part of the largest international service organization for middle school students, with more than 45,000 members worldwide.

Bookmobile coming to town next week

The Free Bookmobile of Sonoma County will be in Geyserville 5-6;30 pm. May 30. The bookmobile will be parked across from the Geyserville Visitors Plaza on Geyserville Avenue.

Odd Fellows Hall offering three $1,000 scholarships

Geyserville Odd Fellows Hall No. 176 is offering three $1000 scholarships to Geyserville High School seniors. All students pursuing an academic program or vocational training are eligible to apply.
