A high-speed pursuit in west Santa Rosa on Tuesday night ended when the fleeing driver, a wanted parolee being sought by a deputy, crashed and was arrested with the help of a police dog, Sonoma County sheriff’s officials said.

Sheriff’s officials said Dylan Davidson, 25, of Santa Rosa was wanted on a no-bail arrest warrant when a property crimes detective spotted him about 6 p.m. Tuesday driving in the Safeway parking lot on West College Avenue near Clover Drive, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

An arrest warrant had been issued in March for Davidson, who was on parole for a domestic violence conviction, because he failed to report to his parole officer.

Behind the wheel of a white 1995 Honda Accord with his girlfriend in the passenger seat, Davidson sped out of the parking lot as the deputy arrived, apparently ignoring the patrol car behind him with lights and sirens, Crum said.

He sped through rural residential neighborhoods, including Clover Drive and Jennings Avenue, and after re-entering West College Avenue sped east, at one point reaching 100 mph near North Dutton Avenue, Crum said.

Davidson ran out of gas and crashed into a parked car near the Terracina Apartment complex on West College Avenue and Link Lane.

He ran and briefly evaded a deputy with a police dog by jumping over a fence.

A deputy deployed the dog, named Scout, to help apprehend Davidson, who had at one point reached for his waistband but was by then on the ground with his hands under his body, Crum said.

The dog bit Davidson twice in the head, and Davidson was handcuffed and arrested.

Davidson was treated for the bites, and he was then booked into the Sonoma County Jail without bail on suspicion of felony evasion, resisting arrest, hit and run, driving on a suspended license and the warrant.
