An ocean rescue Wednesday morning involved a kayaker who fell into the water north of Fort Ross, according to initial reports.

The kayaker reportedly was picked up by a passing fishing boat and taken to meet a U.S. Coast Guard vessel. The kayaker didn’t require medical attention.

A call for help for a person in distress in the water just after 9 a.m. brought a heavy response from several coastal emergency agencies, including the Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter.

The call was to Ocean Cove, just off Highway 1.
