Vintage trailer rally coming to Bodega Bay on Saturday

Mark Burchill savors a chance to lead a tour of his travel trailer. It doesn’t take long.

“It’s really teeny tiny,” the Santa Rosan said of his German-made 1971 Eriba Puck.

The Puck weighs only about 800 pounds because it was designed to be towed by a Volkswagen Beetle or camper van. Among the 12-foot-long trailer’s well-designed amenities are a dining area, a decent-sized bed, a propane stove, a sink and a pop-up on the ceiling that allows most people to stand upright.

Burchill and his wife, Mel Konrad, will have their Puck at this weekend’s vintage trailer rally at the Bodega Bay RV Park on Highway 1. The trailer owners invite the public to an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

“It’s like a show of restored cars,” Burchill said. “I just love seeing how much energy people have put into restoring these trailers.”
