A man angered over his estranged wife’s relationship with another man in Point Arena was killed in a shootout Tuesday evening after he confronted the woman’s new lover with a gun.

Around 6:30, Raymond White, 37, drove to the home of her lover, confronted his 32-year-old wife in the driveway and threatened to shoot her with a handgun he was carrying, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

White then forced his way into the house. Having heard the confrontation in the driveway, the 43-year-old homeowner retrieved a handgun, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The two men began firing shots at each other. White was shot multiple times and died from his wounds, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office declined to identify the 43-year-old man or say whether or not he was injured in the shootout.
