Cal Fire crews kept a wildland fire in Clearlake to three acres Monday evening, while several homes in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

The fire, in the 16000 block of Seventh Avenue near Boyles Avenue, began shortly before 4 p.m.

Not long after, fire officials called for evacuations from the Boyles and Seventh area and northeast of Dam Road and Lake Street.

Firefighters stopped progress of the brushfire by 5 p.m. and estimated it blackened about three acres.

Crews worked for several hours to douse any hotspots, and residents were allowed back in around 7:30 p.m.

No one was hurt and no structures burned.
