Bicyclist struck by car in Santa Rosa suffers life-threatening injuries

A 52-year-old Santa Rosa man was identified Wednesday as the person who suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle at Sebastopol and Stony Point roads.

Jose Tinoco suffered major brain trauma after being hit about 7:20 p.m. Tuesday by a white four-door Honda Civic, Sgt. Jeneane Kucker said.

The driver of the Honda was identified as 22-year-old Tania Natal of Gualala. An investigation showed Tinoco rode through the intersection against a red light when he was struck by Natal's car.

It did not appear Natal had time to see Tinoco or stop for him.

Preliminary testing showed Tinoco may have been riding his bike under the influence of alcohol.
