Mendocino and Lake county wildfires nearly contained

Two Mendocino County wildfires were 90 percent contained and a Lake County blaze was fully contained Wednesday.|

Three wildfires burning in Mendocino and Lake counties have been largely contained four days after the first one erupted.

The Murphy fire in Lake County, 3 miles south of Lower Lake, is fully contained after burning 40 acres since it started Monday, Cal Fire reported Wednesday morning.

The Grade fire in Mendocino County, off Highway 101 between Ukiah and Willits, was 90 percent contained as of 9 a.m. The fire scorched 900 acres and forced the evacuation of the Baker Creek subdivision near Redwood Valley. The fire began as a car and trailer fire on the shoulder of Highway 101 Sunday.

The Range fire in Mendocino County, which burned 20 acres in the Cow Mountain Recreation Area, was 90 percent contained by 9 a.m. The fire, outside of Ukiah, started at a shooting range Monday.
