A man with two loaded handguns in his pockets walked up to the door of a Santa Rosa home and knocked. Several deputy sheriffs answered.

Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies were inside the Westberry Drive home off Guerneville Road in west Santa Rosa conducting an early morning search - related to a person on probation in an unrelated investigation - when the knock came about 12:25 a.m. Monday.

The visitor at the door was Johnny Perez, 30, of Clearlake, Sgt. Spencer Crum said.

“The deputies opened the door and greeted him,” Crum said in a statement. “When deputies asked if he had any weapons on him, Perez admitted that he was in possession of two handguns.”

The guns were a .32-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver loaded with six rounds and a .22-caliber Hi-Standard semi-automatic handgun loaded with eight rounds, according to Crum.

Perez is prohibited from having weapons or ammunition because of a prior felony conviction and was booked into the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, being a felon in possession of ammunition and being a felon with a loaded gun in public, Crum said.
