In an attempt to alleviate traffic gridlock, the Vista Point parking lot at the north end of the Golden Gate Bridge in Marin County will be closed to most vehicles for the next five weekends, bridge officials said Thursday.

The popular viewpoint will be accessible by tour buses but all other vehicles won't be allowed from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for all Saturday and Sundays in August as well as Labor Day weekend through Sept. 4. The same restrictions apply to the landmark's east lot in San Francisco which services the Welcome Center, cafe and gift shop.
