A suspected DUI driver badly injured in a crash early Saturday on Valley Ford Road remained hospitalized Tuesday in critical condition.

Steven Cline was being cared for in the intensive care unit at Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to a hospital spokesman.

Cline, 51, of Rio Vista was hurt just after 4 a.m. when driving on the rural west Sonoma County road and his pickup drifted into the path of an oncoming pickup driven by Emma Dominguez Quintero, 21, of Santa Rosa, according to the CHP.

The two trucks were badly damaged and trapped the occupants. Officers suspected the drivers had been drinking and arrested both but released them to the hospital for care, postponing possible prosecution until after they have been discharged.

Quintero appeared to have less severe injuries, according to the CHP. As of Tuesday she was no longer listed as a patient at Memorial.
