A Lower Lake man wanted by police in connection with two 2015 incidents of attempted luring of underage girls into his vehicle was arrested in New York state last week by U.S. marshals and will be extradited to Lake County to face charges.

Lakeport police said Koyi Daron Gillis, 24, was arrested and jailed Aug. 3 in White Plains, New York.

He is a suspect in the attempted child luring of 11- and 8-year-old girls on Oct. 16 and 20, 2015. Police originally served a search warrant at Gillis’ home Oct. 28 that year, seizing evidence including his computer, which later investigation found contained child pornography, according to police.

The Lake County District Attorney filed a complaint against Gillis this July charging him with two felony counts of attempting to kidnap a child under age 14 and one count of possession of obscene matter depicting a person under age 18. Police sought the help of marshals to locate Gillis.

He remains in custody at the Westchester County Correctional Facility.
