Several drivers on River Road in Guerneville Monday afternoon called 911 to report a bloodied woman walking in and out of traffic, according to authorities.

Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies responded to the 1:15 p.m. calls and found an apparently suicidal 54-year-old woman bleeding from both arms from what appeared to be self-inflicted razor wounds. Witnesses told deputies she’d been walking in River Road just east of downtown Guerneville as vehicles approached, making comments about wanting to die.

The distraught woman recently lost a son in a vehicle collision, authorities said.

She was treated by Russian River paramedics and taken to a hospital for physical and mental health care.
