A good Samaritan credited with thwarting the robbery of a Fresno Starbucks may be in some trouble of his own over injuries inflicted on the would-be criminal.

Cregg Jerri intervened when a Transformers mask-wearing Ryan Flores walked into a Starbucks in July carrying a fake gun and a knife and, police say, attempted to rob a barista.

Jerri was having none of it and attempted to stop the robbery by hitting Flores with a chair from behind. Flores fought back, pulling out a knife. As the men wrestled over the weapon, Jerri was stabbed in the neck while Flores was stabbed 17 times.

Flores was ultimately arrested and is facing charges for second-degree robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Video of the robbery, as you may imagine, went viral.

Now, in an interview with the Fresno Bee, Flores' parents say Jerri's actions were a clear case of excessive force and that Jerri should be charged.

"I understand he (Flores) robbed the store but (Jerri) stabbed my son 17 times," Mark Flores told the newspaper.

In an interview with KSEE-TV, Flores' mother, Pamela Chimienti, says her son plans to file a lawsuit over the alleged excessive force.
