Windsor police are stepping up patrols in Foothill Regional Park after receiving three reports of a nude or semi-nude man approaching women in the park on three separate occasions over the past week.

The most recent incident occurred Thursday evening, when two women reported being approached by a naked man who emerged from the bushes near one of the ponds and walked toward them with his arms extended away from his body until they ran away, police said.

Officers and a park ranger who responded to the 6:47 p.m. incident were unable to locate the subject, despite help from the Sonoma County sheriff’s helicopter.

But when the officers were leaving the park, two other women reported the same type of experience, saying their assailant matched the description of the Thursday incident and approached them around the same time of night, only on Monday.

The subject in each case was a white man in his late teens or early 20s with short, dark curly hair.

Authorities also received a secondhand report of a man without a shirt on running after women and shouting at them in the park around 7:30 p.m. Sept. 16. It was not clear if that individual shared the description provided by the women Thursday.

Authorities suggest anyone visiting the park carry a phone and walk, hike or jog with a partner. Anyone who sees anything suspicious should call police at 707-565-2121.
