Two motorcyclists killed in separate accidents in Lake County on Saturday

were identified by the California Highway Patrol.

Mansur Balaei, 31, of Santa Rosa lost control of his motorcycle on Highway

175 near Lakeport and slammed into a guardrail. He was riding with the group

Bay Area Riders for Fun at about 1:30 p.m. when the accident occurred. He died

at the scene.

Bob Steiner, 62, was killed while trying to make an illegal pass on Highway

20 near Clearlake Oaks at 4:35 p.m. Saturday, according to the CHP. He drove

across double yellow lines and into oncoming traffic.

Steiner, from Nice, tried to avoid a head-on collision, but struck another

car and was thrown from his motorcycle. He died before arriving at the

hospital.

Drugs or alcohol may have contributed to his accident, according to the

CHP. They are awaiting blood test results.
