Sonoma County resource fairs to focus on debris removal ahead of Nov. 13 form deadline

Sonoma County and Santa Rosa officials are hosting three resource fairs in the coming days focused on the process of removing debris from the properties of residents whose homes burned down in the wildfires last month.

One fair will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the city’s utilities field office at 35 Stony Point Road in Santa Rosa. The second fair will be held Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Veterans Memorial Building at 1351 Maple Ave. The third is planned for Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Altimira Middle School at 17805 Arnold Dr in the Sonoma Valley.

All the events will include staff members who can walk residents through the right-of-entry forms fire victims need to submit by Monday if they want to participate in the government-sponsored debris removal program. Representatives of the Governor’s Office of Emergency Services, the EPA, FEMA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among others, will also be present.

As of Friday morning, about 2,700 right-of-entry forms were submitted, according to county officials. More than 5,000 homes were destroyed in the fires.
