Note found at Santa Rosa Middle School stating someone ‘would be shooting up the school’

Police were investigating after a teacher found the note written on a desk, according to school officials.|

Staffers and police were on alert at Santa Rosa Middle School Friday morning after a teacher found a note written on a desk “stating that a student would be shooting up the school,” Principal Tom Fierro said in an email to parents.

After alerting authorities to the note Thursday, Fierro said they did not believe the threat to be credible.

The writer of the note had not yet been identified when Fierro sent the email at 5 p.m. Thursday. The note indicated the shooting would take place on Friday, he said.

“I feel that our students will be safe (Friday),” he wrote. “I want parents to be aware in case your child talks to you about this.”

Calls to the school and the Santa Rosa Police Department were not immediately returned.
